After hours, all together
Hornsby After Dark is about more than lighting up the CBD — it’s about bringing energy, connection and opportunity to evenings right across the Hornsby LGA.
Also known as 2077AD, the initiative encourages people to stay local, explore their neighbourhoods and support the businesses that make each suburb distinct.
Led by the Hornsby Chamber of Commerce, and supported by a dedicated Committee from Council and our biggest venue operators and community partners, Hornsby After Dark was created with a simple purpose, to collaborate with local businesses to make evenings more vibrant, social and commercially sustainable. It does this through a growing program of family-friendly events, live entertainment, pop-up experiences and seasonal celebrations that give traders a practical way to extend trading hours and reach new customers.
Partnerships sit at the heart of the program. Whether it be Movie Parties and Ladies’ Nights with Event Cinemas that have turned regular screenings into community occasions. Glow and Vivid-style activations at Magpies Waitara have transformed weeknights into bright, high energy experiences for families. Halloween events have brought safe, well- managed fun to local streets and clubs, while the return of the Christmas tree to Hornsby Mall helped restore a sense of tradition and celebration to the festive season. Hornsby RSL has also been a strong program partner, hosting Australia Day, After Dark bowling, family events and supporting community activations. We also have The Hornsby Inn’s fabulous Mother’s Day and Build-a-Bear experiences. The list is extensive.
Alongside these larger moments are the Twilight markets in collaboration with Organic Food Markets, open mic nights at The Railway Hotel giving our emerging talent a stage to show their prowess, Battle of the Bands, craft workshops and themed pop-ups that showcase local musicians, makers and small businesses. Each activation is designed to be accessible, for both the public and participating traders, with shared promotion, simple logistics and strong community backing.
For residents, Hornsby After Dark means more reasons to meet friends, enjoy local food and discover new businesses close to home. For traders, it offers visibility, foot traffic and a chance to be part of something collective rather than standing alone.
Hornsby After Dark is still growing, and its future is shaped by ideas from the community it serves. If you have a business, a venue, a talent or an idea, there’s room for you After Dark.
